MBHS UK Chapter Old Boys at the Family Day, 2012
A Brief History of MBHS Lagos Old Boys’ Association UK.I.E.
Prior to the formation of this association, old students of Methodist Boys’ High School, Lagos (MBHS), resident in the U.K regularly held their meetings as classmates, year of graduation sets or as groups made up of a number of sets. However well intended these meetings were, the challenge in delivering the desired benefit to the students was to a large extent watered down due to one reason or another.
As a result of members moving across the globe for greener pastures with work and family and the reduced activities amongst the various set groups, this further increased the desire to have a body where the unifying factor is our alma mater i.e., Methodist Boys’ High School Lagos, motto: Non Sibi Sed Aliis (Not for us but for others).
Following months of consultations and deliberations, the UK Chapter of MBHS Lagos Old Boys’ Association was birthed in the year 2002.
The first meeting held on Saturday 16th February 2002 in Ilford, Essex, at the residence of Mr Kingsley Omokhuale.
The members in attendance at the inaugural meeting are listed below.
- Austin Oshodi (Deceased)
- Charles Unuane (Deceased)
- Kolawole Ishola
- Adegoke Craig
- Kingsley Omokhuale
At the inaugural meeting, it was agreed that late Mr Austin Oshodi should lead the association as the inaugural chairman of the association and roles and responsibilities were agreed for the four other members.
During the early meetings, it was decided that our meetings be held on the last Sunday of each month in members’ homes as a way of extending our relationship to knowing our different families and also touching the younger generation.
Since 2002, the association have waxed stronger and become an arrowhead for project delivery on matters relating to MBHS Lagos.
As an association, we have delivered projects for the school i.e.,
- Computer lab
- Internet connectivity for the school
- Prizes for the leadership on the valedictory service and prize giving day.
- Notebook packs, in house colours were distributed to the students (see pictures in the gallery)
- Ties in the school colours were distributed to all the students from JSS1 – SS3 (see pictures in the gallery)
Socially every other year, we hold a family reunion day mainly in the months of July/August for members, their families and friends of the chapter as a time to come together as one big family.
Gala Night Series:

2022: The association celebrated her 20th anniversary and this was marked with a gala night, dinner and dance to celebrate this milestone. This event was also used to launch our aso-oke agbada made with the school colours (see pictures in the gallery).
