Advanced Skills Teacher

Oke Eleyae has worked in secondary education for the last 17 years. Prior to this he had a career in microbiology and was a researcher at the Medical Research Institute, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria.

Since 2005 he has been an Advanced Skills Teacher, with expertise in Science and Gifted and Talented education in London. He is also a Specialist Leader in Education (One of the first in the UK) and Head of Science.

He is a member of his school's Senior Leadership Team, a Chartered London Teacher and a Member and Fellow of the College of Teachers.

In addition to teaching, he has extensive experience in training, coaching and mentoring both students and teachers. He also leads training on general leadership and management issues relating to teaching and learning, both in Britain and abroad.

He regularly runs training sessions on several educational development programmes including the 'Newly Qualified Teachers' induction programme, CPD programme, Aspiring Middle Leaders and Aspiring Senior Leaders programme and the gifted and talented programme.

He provides specialist advice to groups of schools on all aspects of gifted and talented education, as well as the leadership and teaching and learning of science.

He is the managing consultant for KIKO Educational Services Ltd. A privately run educational consultancy, registered in the United Kingdom.

He has been nominated for, and received at least three teaching awards over the last twelve years. In November 2012, he received an 'outstanding leader' award from the Jack Petchey Foundation.

Since 2003 he has been an assistant examiner for OCR exam board.

In 2001 and 2002 he worked as an educational consultant for a programme sponsored by Shell oil company, to train teachers from fifty secondary schools in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria (Fifty for the future).
